There are areas that show very high strain. The designer inserts “reinforcements” to increase resistance at the points of maximum strain.

It can be seen that in the area where the reinforcements have been inserted strain has diminished or completely disappeared; this means that the frame dimensions can be established at the design stage so that the model is close to the real thing that will be tested to check the results achieved.

3D OUTPUT OF FLAT FIGURES
Example of modelling by extracting the figure or pattern of a ply to make the part lay-ups.

Example of modelling with a study of the lay-ups and calculation of thicknesses.

Examples of flat modelling of the plies constituting the lay-ups of the part, which will then be used for NESTING at the cutting stage of prepregs and production of the PLY BOOK.

INDUSTRY
These components are made to customer specifications, using the Finite Element Method FEM to analyse structural behaviour and deal with critical aspects before the construction and testing stages.
USES: automatic articulated arms, control instruments, robotics, packaging, composite slabs with thicknesses of a few tenths up to 40mm, motorized rollers, idle rollers, printing rollers, expansion shafts, connections, transmission shafts, hydraulics, pumps, vessels, support beams, pivots, parts to drawings, and windings for magnetic rotors.

Why make pipes and rollers in epoxy-based composite material?
ADVANTAGES: less weight and greater rigidity than metal, reduced bending and vibrations, higher speeds achievable, possibility to orient and regulate the flexibility of the part involved, easy to work, easy to join to other metal and plastic elements, excellent chemical resistance, reduced heat expansion, customizable roughness, reduced mass and inertia, high balancing levels and optimization of frequencies.

.

SPORT
USES: top end sports gear for professionals or amateurs in: cycling, motor biking, sailing (booms, spinnaker poles, bowsprits, race double, and cruisers), ski poles, fishing (rods and accessories).
ADVANTAGES: less weight and greater rigidity than metal, strength, customization, adaptable shapes, flexibility during processing, production of complex parts, and controllable rigidity according to application needs.
CYCLING
We make simple or complex parts and components for cycle frames for top level professionals and amateurs. Our components boast numerous successes and world records in different cycling specialities for the most prestigious makes. The components are made to our customers’ specifications and where necessary make use of FEM analysis of structural behaviour so as to deal with any critical points before the construction and testing stages.
FISHING
For over thirty years FAPS has been synonymous worldwide with perfection and innovation in the fishing rod industry.
Research into ever higher production quality standards and careful choice of technologically solid materials are still at the heart of our products.
Continuous technological development and the unique nature of each individual product made in our facilities mean that our products are particularly sought after by the professionals of this sport which, like few others, make great demands on the structural characteristics of their tackle.
SAILING
Faps has proven experience in the nautical industry and it manufactures particulars in composite materials either for professional or for amateurs. Studies, experimentation and tests at sea have enable Faps to develop a range of products and innovative applications, easily adaptable to every kind of sail and boat.
USES: Tiller/Stick, Tiller extension, bow sprits, battens, spinnaker poles and jib booms with cylindrical, cylindrical-conical and biconical profiles and "pali per tendalini".
ADVANTAGES: Less weight and greater rigidity than metal, strength, customization, flexibility during processing, production of complex parts, controllable rigidity according to application needs and a great resistance against chemical attack.

.

AUTOMOTIVE
USES: frames, transmission shafts, mufflers, rollbars, crash structures, parts to drawings.
ADVANTAGES: lightness, high rigidity, reduced bending and vibrations, precision, easy surface customization, low heat expansion, easily joined to other plastic and metal elements and extremely high component characterization.

.

DESIGN
USES: components for tables, chairs, furniture, accessories and complementary furnishing items, light fittings and outdoor furniture, where originality and innovation with high technical content are required.
ADVANTAGES: refined finishes, component customization, modular elements, lightness, transparency, customized colours and shades, finished or paintable product, and excellent resistance to chemicals and weather.

.

OTHER
USES: cabs, supports, parts to drawings, fascias, medical applications, prostheses and walking aids, telescope arms, tripods, quadripods and vessels.
ADVANTAGES: llightness, fiber orientation and possibility to obtain special modules for the application, high rigidity, easy to work, complex shapes, precision, excellent resistance to chemicals, reduced heat expansion and innovative decorative finishes.
